Herbie Hancock working
with all-star cast for new album
Herbie Hancock has said that his upcoming album "The Imagine Project" was on of
the hardest records he has ever made. According to Hancock playing the 10 tracks
was easy compared to what it took to put the album together. The new effort
features guest performeances by Dave Matthews, Seal, Pink, Jeff Beck, The
Chieftains, Toumani Diabete, Wayne Shorter, Chaka Khan and others. "The Imagine
Project" includes a version of John Lennon's "Imagine" with Beck, Pink, Seal and
India.Arie, as well as the Beatles' "Tomorrow Never Knows" with Dave Matthews.
John Legend and Pink worked together Peter Gabriel's "Don't Give Up." Recording
sessions for "The Imagine Project" were filmed and will become the source
material for a documentary and web-based applications, possibly including a site
that will allow fans to remix tracks from the album. "The Imagine Project" is
set for a June 22 release date.
Orbital to release new material
Dance act Orbital has announced that it will be releasing their first material
in 6 years with a double A-side single. The dance duo are set to release “Don't
Stop Me”and “The Gun Is Good” digitally and on 12 inch vinyl on June 20.
The Faces and Simply Red's Mick Hucknall planning to
tour
Ian McLagan has announced that the new incarnation of the Faces is planning to
tour extensively around the globe. This version of the Faces includes McLagan
and drummer Kenney Jones, who co-founded the Small Faces in 1965, as well as
guitarist Ron Wood, who joined when the group became the Faces in 1969. The
lineup also includes Sex Pistols bassist Glen Matlock and Simply Red frontman
Mick Hucknall, who is replacing Rod Stewart.
New The Roots album set for June 22
The Roots have announced details of their upcoming new album “How I Got Over.”
The effort will include collaborartions with Joanna Newsom, members of Dirty
Projectors, Monsters Of Folk and John Legend. The album is the group’s ninth and
will be released on June 22. John Legend features on the songs “Doin It Again”
and “The Fire.”
New Kings Of Leon album
Kings of Leon is finishing work on their fifth album. According to drummer
Nathan Followill, the Nashville quartet and their producers, Jacquire King and
Angelo Petraglia, have finished on the majority of the album. Followill said
that he expects that the group will play some of the new songs during their
summer US tour. The album is currently untitled and no release date was set yet. |
