New Kaiser Chiefs album

Mark Ronson will be producing the new album by the Kaiser Chiefs. The producer
has said that Kaiser Chiefs’ guitarist Whitey has been particularly prominent in
the recording process, and his guitar work will shape the sound of the record.
According to Ronson, any of his suggestions to use his trademark horns on the
album were dismissed by the band.
Pearl Jam recording with producer Brendan O'Brien again
Pearl Jam has started recording its 9th studio album with producer Brendan
O'Brien. Although only four to five songs were recorded so far the band is
aiming for a 2008 release. Meanwhile, Pearl Jam will do a 13-date US East Coast
tour that runs throughout June.
The Dire Straits’ Mark Knopfler to feature on new Dandy
Warhols album
Dandy Warhols have revealed the tracklisting of their upcoming new album “Earth
To The Dandy Warhols.” The new effort is being released on the band's brand-new
label, Beat The World Records this summer. Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits and
guitarist Mike Campbell of Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers are featured on the
track “Love Song.” The band have made the album's first track “The World The
People Together (Come On),” available on their website.
The Cure sets new album for September release date
After being delayed several times, the new Cure album is now set for a September
13 release date. The band plans to release four singles, one each month,
starting May 13 in anticipation of the new disc. The four singles will all
arrive on the 13th day of each month and will be released in both physical and
digital formats. The tracks “The Only One” and will be followed by “Freakshow”in
June.
Randy Newman to return with new album
Randy Newman will release his first album of new material in nine years, "Harps
And Angels," on August 5. The new effort was produced by Mitchell Froom and
Lenny Waronker and includes the track "A Few Words In Defense Of My Country,"
which was released as a single exclusively to iTunes last year.
Boston to finish recording new album
Boston’s Tom Scholz has said that the band’s next studio album will be finished
after their summer tour. The new effort should be out "just after the first of
the year." The album is said to be a mix of "really straightforward rock 'n'
roll songs.” The new album will also include several songs from their previous
album "Corporate America" that the band is remixing, rearranging and, in some
cases, completely re-recording. A revised version of the Boston's "Greatest
Hits" album will be released in June to coincide with a new tour.
Yes working on new material
While preparing for their 40th anniversary tour this summer, Yes is working on
new material. According to frontman Jon Anderson the band is preparing four new
songs of the "opus" variety, being lengthy, multi-movement compositions. However,
Anderson is not sure yet whether those songs will end up on a new album by the
band. The Yes anniversary tour starts in July. |
