Snoop Dogg compiles
Johnny Cash remix album
Snoop Dogg has compiled a new remix album of Johnny Cash songs. The album will
be titled “Johnny Cash Remixed” with reworked Johnny Cash songs by artists like
Pete Rock, Alabama 3, Sonny J and The Heavy. Snoop Dogg, who appears on an
alternative version of “I Walk The Line,” co-produced the album with Cash's son
John Carter Cash and Beyonce's father Mathew Knowles. The album is out on June
15 and will also be available with a bonus DVD featuring a making-of
documentary.
Frankie Beverly & Maze tribute album set for August
Gospel singer Donald Lawrence and producer Rex Rideout are among the
collaborators that will contribute to a tribute album for R&B group Maze. The
album will be titled "I Wanna Thank You... An All-Star Tribute To Maze Featuring
Frankie Beverly." Tracks to be feature in the effort include "Back in Stride"
and
"Silky Soul." Getting their big break in the early '70s as backing band and
opening act on a Marvin Gaye tour, Maze signed a record deal with Capitol
Records and recorded a total of 12 albums that got them 30 hit singles. The
album is planned for an August release date and a web site will launch in
mid-April at frankiebeverlytribute.com.
T.I. to re-release Paper Trail album with new tracks
T.I. intends to re-release his “Paper Trail” album with some new tracks before
the year's end. According to the artist, the album will include five additional
songs from which a number of tracks have already been recorded. Some early,
leaked version of Paper Trail featured collaborations with The-Dream ("Like I
Do") and Ciara ("My Dear") that didn't make the initial album may now be
included.
Jeff Beck preparing for new album
Jeff Beck is aiming to take his current touring band into the studio this fall
to start work on a new album. According to Beck, he and keyboardist Jason
Rebello, bassist Tal Wilkenfeld and drummer Vinie Colaiuta did some recording
last April in California, but may want to start over again.
Former Beach Boy Jardine working with Brian Wilson,
Neil Young and Steve Miller
Former Beach Boy Al Jardine is recruiting a group of all-star friends to be part
of his new solo project. Jardine plans to release the album in early summer.
Neil Young, Brian Wilson, Steve Miller, Stephen Stills, Red Hot Chili Peppers
bassist Flea and Glen Campbell will all be guesting on "Post Card From
California," which includes a mix of original songs and some Beach Boys’
standards. |
