Kylie Minogue to
release New York live performance
Kylie Minogue will release a download-only concert album titled "Kylie Live In
New York." The album is planned for a December 14 release date and was recorded
at New York's Hammerstein Ballroom this fall. "Kylie Live In New York" will also
be available digitally on that same date. The 25-song set contains live versions
of hits like "Confide In Me", "The Locomotion" and "Can't Get You Out Of My
Head."
Editors announce US tour and album release date
The Editors have announced a US tour as well as the US release date of their
latest album. The band will tour the US in February. Prior to the tour, the band
will release their third album “In This Light And On This Evening” in the US on
January 19.
Julian Lennon recording again
After a 10-year hiatus, Julian Lennon is making music again. Lennon is prepping
a new album for spring 2010. Prior to the new albvum, on December 15 he will
release a 4-track EP featuring charity single "Lucy." The song pays tribute to
Lennon's childhood friend Lucy Vodden, who also inspired the Beatles song "Lucy
In The Sky With Diamonds." Vodden died in September of complications from lupus
and was depicted by Lennon in a watercolor painting that prompted his father
John to write the "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" song. The EP also
features an acoustic version of "Lucy," a song titled "Sober" and the track
"Beautiful" from Lennon's new album "Everything Changes."
Corinne Bailey Rae reveals new album details
Corinne Bailey Rae has announced the release details of her new album “The Sea.”
The album will be out on February 1, with new single “I'd Do It All Again” the
same day. Bailey Rae has said that some songs deal with her grief following the
death of her husband Jason Rae from an accidental overdose in 2008.
Gossip Girls’s Leighton Meester plans album for early
2010
While Leighton Meester's "Somebody To Love" single are doing well, Meester is
still working on her debut album. The actress revealed that she is still writing
new music while she is also set to do a movie about country music. She expects
her upcoming album to be out early 2010, in February or March. Meester recently
worked with Lil Wayne on the track "Make It Rain."
Coldplay working with Brian Eno on new album
Coldplay have returned to the studio to work with Brian Eno again. Frontman
Chris Martin wants to regain their trademark stadium rock sound and wants to
achieve this by enlisting music producer Eno who also did production for the
last album “Viva La Vida Or Death and All His Friends.” Coldplay are now working
in a church in London. The album is planned to be out somewhere next year.
Was (Not Was) greatest hit collection set for February
23
Was (Not Was) will release their greatest hits collection "Pick Of The Litter
(1980-2010)" on February 23. The 19-song compilation commemorates the 30th
anniversary of the dance/rock/soul/funk/jazz group's recording career. The
album’s content ranges from the 12-inch version of first single, "Wheel Me Out"
to songs from 2008's "Boo!" album as well as the group's two biggest hits "Spy
In The House Of Love" (1988) and "Walk The Dinosaur" (1989). Don Was and David
Was founded the group during the late '70s in Detroit.
Norah Jones gets remixed by Beastie Boys, Santigold and
Beck
Norah Jones has enlisted two members of Beastie Boys as well as Santigold and
Beck to remix tracks from her new album “The Fall.” The three remixed tracks are
available online and will be released on vinyl on January 12. Beastie Boys'
Ad-Rock and Mike D have reworked “That's What I Said,” while Santigold and
Snotty's remixed “Chasing Pirates.” Another version of “Chasing Pirates” was
remixed by Beck's collective Droogs.
Goldfrapp to release new Head First album in March 2010
Goldfrapp will follow up their 2008 album "Seventh Tree" with "Head First,"
which is planned for a March 23 US release date. A track list has not been
announced yet, but first single "Rocket" will be released on March 9. Goldfrapp
will also tour behind the album next year. Meanwhile, group members Alison
Goldfrapp and Will Gregory wrote the score for the film Nowhere Boy, the story
of John Lennon as a youth. The pair have also been working with Christina
Aguilera on tracks for her next album. |
