Chicago and Earth, Wind
& Fire to tour together
Chicago and Earth, Wind & Fire are reuniting for a 30 city US tour this summer.
The two bands previously toured together in 2004 and 2005 and each will perform
a full show before joining for a final set with both bands onstage together.
Both formed in the late 1960’s and have subsequently become two of the most
popular and long lasting touring bands in music history.
Devo return with new album
Devo have announced the release of a new studio album, their first in 19 years.
The new set is set for release somewhere next fall. The as-yet untitled album
will be the band’s first since “Smooth Noodle Maps.” On May 6 Devo will perform
their 1978 debut album”Q: Are We Not Men, We Are Devo!” in its entirety at
London’s Kentish Town Forum.
Michael Jackson confirms London concerts
Michael Jackson has confirmed the dates for his London residency at the O2 Arena
in July. The 10-date run will start July 8 and the other dates for shows at the
23,000-capacity venue are: July 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 22, 24, 26, 28. Further
dates are set to be confirmed if the 10 dates sell out as expected. Jackson, who
has returned to the US for rehearsals, is "ecstatic" at the response according
to a statement issued by his management.
New Jarvis Cocker album titled Further Complications
Jarvis Cocker has revealed that his second solo album will be titled “Further
Complications.” The follow-up to his last album “Jarvis” (2006) was produced by
Steve Albini in Chicago, and will be released on May 18. Meanwhile, the former
Pulp frontman will be doing a short tour in the UK in June.
Eminem to release two new albums this year
Eminem is making his upcoming new album "Relapse" a double. His new effort will
be due from on May 19. The album's first single "Crack The Bottle" is out
already. A second album, titled "Relapse 2," is promised to be released before
the end of the year. Eminem worked on his new album with long-time collaborator
Dr. Dre again.
Blur's Graham Coxon to release new album
Graham Coxon has announced details of a new solo album. The 15-track album will
be titled “'The Spinning Top” and is out on May 11. According to Coxon, the set
is primarily acoustic and follows a narrative story of a man from birth to death.
The album features gueste appearances by Robyn Hitchcock, Jas Singh, Gurjit
Sembhi, Danny Thompson, Graham Fox and Louis Vause. First single off the album
is the track “Sorrow's Army” which is out May 18. Another track, titled “In The
Morning” will precede the single being released on limited edition 10-inch vinyl
on April 18.
Phish record 20 new songs
Phish have recorded demo versions of 20 new songs for their next album.
Meanwhile, the band plans to make high quality recordings of three upcoming live
shows available as free MP3 downloads from its
www.livephish.com website. While
Phish has a favourable attitude towards online distribution of concert
recordings, the are taking a much harder line against real world bootleggers as
they have asked a US District Judge to order police to seize unlicensed t-shirts,
posters, and other merchandise being sold at or near shows on the upcoming tour. |
