Eminem, Beyoncé and
Nickelback artists of the decade
Eminem has earned Billboard's Artist of the Decade title after debuting 10 years
ago. The decade-end artist lineup ranks the best-performing acts of the past 10
years based on activity on both Billboard’s albums chart and the Hot 100 sinlges
chart. Eminem had his first hit in 1999 with "My Name Is" and then scored
another 27 chart hits onwards. On the albums chart all five of his CD’s reached
the top spot. Top female artist of the decade is Beyoncé, while the top duo/group
is Nickelback. Beyoncé's solo career satrted around 2000, hitting the singles
chart 23 times from which 5 made it to number one. On the albums chart she took
6 entries, including three efforts making the top spot.
Oasis plan summer release date for next album
Oasis are planning to release their first album without Noel Gallagher next
summer. The band is currently working under the name Oasis 2.0. According to
Liam Gallagher, The album should be out by July next year. Some thee songs are
done. As for the sound of the new material, Liam has said that the group's sound
has not changed much. Meanwhile, former members Andy Bell and Gem Archer are set
to return to the band.
Fatboy Slim and David Byrne working with Tori Amos and
Cyndi Lauper
The tracklisting for the collaborative album by Fatboy Slim and former Talking
Heads frontman David Byrne has been revealed. The album will be titled “Here
Lies Love” and documents the life of Imelda Marcos, former First Lady of the
Philippines. The 2CD is set for a February 23 release date and contains 22
tracks. Guest vocalists that feature on the album include Tori Amos and Cyndi
Lauper amongst others. The box set will also be accompanied by a 100-page book
and DVD.
Erykah Badu to release new album in February
Erykah Badu will release her 6th studio album "New Amerykah, Part II: Return Of
The Ankh" on February 23. The singer said that the set is called "Part II"
because unlike as opposed to 2008's part I, she is now "more free and full of
life." Other artists to feature on the effort include The Roots' ?uestlove, Lil
Wayne and Andre 3000. In the past 6 years, Badu has recorded over 50 songs for
"Part II." The singer is also planning to release an already-completed album
titled "Low Down" shortly after this release.
The Jacksons planning world tour and new album
Michael Jackson’s brothers Marlon, Tito, Jackie and Jermaine Jackson will do a
world tour in 2010. The brothers will tour as the Jackson 4. According to
brother Jackie, the remaining Jacksons have had great support from their
worldwide and now more or less want to return the favor. The Jackson 4 tour will
mark the 40th Anniversary of the Jacksons and the group will also release an
album to go along with the tour.
Elvis Costello planning next album in live series
Elvis Costello is planning a second release in his "The Costello Show" live
performance series. The new release will be titled "Live At Hollywood High" and
is a complete 20-song concert recording from June, 1978. The album includes 11
previously unreleased tracks performed by Costello and his band the Attractions
and is due to be out on January 12. The "Hollywood High" concert was produced by
Nick Lowe. The first release in "The Costello Show" series was "Live At The El
Mocambo," a concert from, 1978 in Toronto.
Sly Stone working on new album
R&B/funk artist Sly Stone has signed a new record deal and is currently
recording a new album for release in early summer 2010. The effort will feature
new original material and re-recorded versions of his greatest hits.
The Game working with Justin Timberlake and Dr. Dre on
new album
Rapper The Game’s upcoming new album “The R.E.D. Album” will feature Justin
Timberlake. Timberlake collaborated with the rapper on a Pharrell
Williams-produced record for the project. The Game has been workin on his album
with the likes of artists such as Dr. Dre, Cool and Dre, DJ Premier and Gucci
Mane. The song "Krazy" with Gucci Mane was released a few weeks ago, as well as
the Cool and Dre produced "Big Money." The new Game album is planned in early
2010.
Outkast’s Big Boi finishing album
According to Antwan Andre "Big Boi" Patton, 2010 will be a busy year for him and
Outkast member Andre "3000" Benjamin. Big Boi has just finished work on in his
new solo album "Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son Of Chico Dusty." Big Boi also
announced that Andre 3000 will follow with his solo effort right after.
Meanwhile, a new Outkast album is also being prepared. Other artists to appear
on Big Boi’s new record besides Andre 3000 include Raekwon, Mary J. Blige,
George Clinton, Too $hort, Gucci Mane, T.I., Lil Jon and Jamie Foxx. Big Boi has
also done a remix of Mariah Carey's new track "H.A.T.E.U." |
