New Grace Jones album
titled Hurricane
Grace Jones is releasing her first new album in twenty years. The new effort
will be titled “Hurricane” and is set for a October 27 release date. The 60 year
old Jamaican singer rose to fame in the ‘80s with hits like 'I've Seen That Face
Before” and “Slave To The Rhythm.” Jones’ last studio album “Bulletproof Heart”
was released in 1989.
Nas eyeing DJ Premier for next album
Nas has made a public appeal to DJ Premier saying that people are waiting for
them to record an album together. DJ Premier and Nas first collaborated on
“Illmatic” and ever since the legendary DJ/producer has given his lyrical friend
classic tracks. But the two artists have not worked together for some time.
Meanwhile, Nas is preparing to release his new album “Untitled” on which he
collaborates with the likes of the Game, Cool & Dre and Busta Rhymes.
B.B. King back with new album
B.B. King has worked with producer T Bone Burnett on his new CD "One Kind
Favor." The new album is due August 26 and he is backed on the effort by pianist
Dr. John, drummer Jim Keltner and bassist Nathan East. The track list includes
blues standrs like Big Bill Broonzy's "Backwater Blues," Lonnie Johnson's
"Tomorrow Night," Blind Lemon Jefferson's "See That My Grave Is Kept Clean" and
T-Bone Walker's "I Get So Weary." In September B.B. King will begin hosting a
weekly blues radio show with XM Satellite Radio.
Keri Hilson working with Justin Timberlake and
Timbaland on debut album
Keri Hilson’s latest single "Energy," the first single from her solo debut album
is storming the charts. The singer/songwriter previously worked with P. Diddy,
Usher, Chris Brown, Mary J. Blige and Britney Spears. Her solo album “In A
Perfect World” is set for a September 23 release date for which she got help
from Justin Timberlake and Timbaland.
Timbaland to produce next Jay-Z album
Timbaland will be doing production for Jay-Z’s upcoming new album. No start date
for the production of the album was set yet, but Timbaland is expecting to start
working on the project soon. Meanwhile, Timbaland recently completed an album
with Chris Cornell.
New Gym Class Heroes CD to feature Estelle and Daryl
Hall
Gym Class Heroes' Travis McCoy's main subject on Gym Class Heroes' new album
"The Quilt" are woman. The new effort is due September 9 and is led by the track
"Cookie Jar," which was produced by and features The-Dream. Also featured on the
album are Estelle (on the track "Innocent") and Daryl Hall (on "Live Forever").
Additionally, reggae influences can be heard on "Drunk Txt Romeo" and "Blinded
By The Sun," which were both produced by Fall Out Boy's Stump. The track "Peace
Sign/Index Now" featuring Busta Rhymes is a promotional track for which the
video was released July 18 online.
Crosby, Stills & Nash record covers album with Rick
Rubin
Crosby, Stills & Nash are planning for a new studio album. It is the band’s
first new album since 1994. The album will feature covers produced by Rick
Rubin. The group members have had discussions with Rubin about the project,
bringing down the proposed list of songs from 60 to a current 20. Recording is
expected to start in early 2009 for a release later in the year. |
