Chamillionaire to
finish work on Ultimate Victory
According to Chamillionaire, his new album "Ultimate Victory" is “like a motion
picture from beginning to end." The oft-delayed set is now set for a September
18 release date. First single "Hip Hop Police" is out now and was produced by JR
Rotem and features Slick Rick. "Ultimate Victory" also features guest
appearances by Krayzie Bone, Lil Wayne, Pimp C, Lloyd, Famous and Devin the Dude,
with production from Happy P, the Runners, Play-N-Skillz, the Beat Bullies, Kane
Beatz, David Banner and others. Chamillionaire will precede the album with the
release of "Mixtape Messiah 3" and "Mixtape Messiah DVD" on July 18, which will
both be available for free at his web site.
Kanye West and Pharrell work on new Cassie album
According to Diddy, Cassie has not been dropped by his label. The singer is
currently in the studio working on her next album. Some of the people Cassie is
working with include Kanye West and Pharrell from the Neptunes. Cassie did some
bad performances last summer which was blamed on nerves. In addition to
recording her next album on Diddy's label, Cassie is also one of the new
spokesmodels for the Sean John women's collection, along with "ATL" actress
Lauren London.
Queen and Paul Rodgers working on new new album
Queen and Paul Rodgers plan to rock together again. According to Rodgers he has
recorded nine songs with Queen members Brian May and Roger Taylor and he said
that there are plans to return to the studio in October to do some more work. A
new album may therefore appear "probably next year the way things are going."
Queen and Paul Rodgers began touring in 2005 and released a live album and DVD
titled "Return of the Champions" in 2006 before playing shows in the US.
Will.I.Am finishing solo debut album Songs About Girls
Will.I.Am is preparing his solo debut album “Songs About Girls,” which is due
September 25. He is currently in Brazil to film the movie that will accompany
the album. The singer has said that he is not going to play shows at regular
venues but will be playing in theaters. The first single off the album will be
the track "I Got It From My Mama (Genetics)," which he said is released to radio
in the next week or two. While Will wraps up work on his new album, he will also
be rejoining his Black Eyes Peas friends on the road soon. The band is scheduled
to go on an international tour beginning this September through December. Will.I.Am
recently also worked with Michael Jackson and a new Black Eyed Peas group album
is planned for 2008.
The Cure to tour US while finishing work on new album
With their new album arriving sometime this fall, the Cure will start touring
the US for a month-long tour beginning September 13. The Cure's present lineup
is lead by singer/guitarist Robert Smith, bassist Simon Gallup, drummer Jason
Cooper and guitarist Porl Thompson. The as-yet-untitled new album is the
follow-up to their 2004 self-titled effort.
Matchbox Twenty recording new songs for greatest hits
compilation
Matchbox Twenty are currently in the studio working on new music. This time
around they are recording without longtime producer Matt Serletic. The recording
sessions are taking place in Los Angeles and feature Rob Thomas, Paul Doucette,
Kyle Cook and Brian Yale. Original member Adam Gaynor left the band in January
2005. Reportedly, the new sound is tougher than previous Matchbox Twenty
material. The band is said to be working on four new songs, to be included on a
greatest hits album to be released around Christmas.
New Twista album titled Adrenaline Rush 2007
Twista will release his new album "Adrenaline Rush 2007" on August 24. The new
effort was titled after his debut album, 1997's "Adrenaline Rush" and features
guest appearances by Juelz Santana, Cee-Lo, Jazze Pha, Pharrell, T-Pain and R.
Kelly, as well as Bone Thugs-N-Harmony. Most out-of-the-box song on the album is
the Tight Mike-produced "Pimp Like Me," in which Twista introduces Chicago's
juke music, a blend of hip-hop and double-speed house music and which may be
released as a single.
Heart's Ann Wilson recording with Elton John & Rufus
Wainwright
Heart's Ann Wilson has enlisted a host of big music industry names for her first
solo album. The set will be titled "Hope & Glory" and is due on September 11.
The 12-track album features contributions by Wilson's sister/Heart colleague
Nancy as well as Elton John, Rufus Wainwright, Wynonna and Gretchen Wilson,
among others. Songs includes socially conscious material such as Pink Floyd's "Goodbye
Blue Sky," John Lennon's "Isolation," Neil Young's "War Of Man" and Led
Zeppelin's "Immigrant Song."
Live album of Simon & Garfunkel’s 1969 tour to be
released
An album full of previously unreleased recordings by Simon & Garfunkel's
November 1969 US tour, which turned out to be the duo's last for more than a
decade. "Live 1969" is due September 18. Shows on the tour were taped with the
intention of releasing a live album to follow up the January 1970 release of
"Bridge Over Troubled Water," but that project never materialized until now. The
live album includes early live versions of songs from "Bridge Over Troubled
Water" including "Why Don't You Write Me," "So Long, Frank Lloyd Wright" and the
title track. Also featured are the classics "Homeward Bound," "Scarborough Fair/Canticle"
and "The Boxer." |
