Alicia Keys working on
next album
While Alicia Keys’ album "As I Am" is still going strong, the singer is already
working on her next record. According to the singer, she is thinking to do
something that is “totally stripped-down, stripped-back, totally piano-based,
singer-songwriter; Joni Mitchell, Carole King type of vibe.” Keys is trying to
find the space to continue to record while touring. Meanwhile Alicia Keys is
considering the track "Superwoman" to be her next single, the follow-up to her
current single "Teenage Love Affair."
The Byrds to release previously unreleased material
The Byrds are set to release a recording of their 1971 appearance at London's
Royal Albert Hall, featuring a line up of Roger McGuinn, Clarence White, Skip
Battin and Gene Parsons. The recording is set to be released in June, although a
final release date has not been set yet. According to founding member Roger
McGuinn, the recording came from his private collection and has said that more
releases of a similar kind will probably follow.
Stone Temple Pilots’ Scott Weiland to release solo
album
Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland is recording his second solo album
with producer Steve Albini. The new solo effort is planned to be out in
November. The as-yet-untitled solo set will be released on Weiland's Soft Drive
label. Scott Weiland's solo debut album "12 Bar Blues" was released in 1998.
Meanwhile, Stone Temple Pilots will do an extensive reunion tour starting in May
plans to record new material later this year.
John Hiatt releasing new album
John Hiatt's new album "Same Old Man" will be out on May 27.and will also be
available on limited edition vinyl. Hiatt produced the effort himself and also
worked with drummer Kenneth Blevins, bassist Patrick O'Hearn and guitarist
Luther Dickinson. His daughter Lilly can also be heard singing on some of the
album’s tracks.
Goo Goo Dolls planning stripped-down next album
The Goo Goo Dolls plan to take a stripped-down approach to their next album,
which should be out in the last quarter of this year. According to frontman John
Rzeznik, the band is “really more of a rock band.” Writing began in earnest in
late February, with Rzeznik working both at home and in the studio. Meanhile,
Goo Goo Dolls are releasing "Greatest Hits Volume Two" in June, which is a
rarities-filled CD and DVD set. |
